One of my goals for 2018 was to transition our home to a toxic free household. This is no small goal… do you know actually how many products you use that have toxins in them?? A LOT!
It actually is quite daunting to think about the products you need to change:
- Soap (All forms – Bar, Hand, Dish!)
- Cleaner (All Purpose Cleaner, Bathroom Cleaner, Window Cleaner, Toilet Bowl Cleaner, Floor Cleaner, etc…All CLEANERS!)
- Laundry Detergent, Fabric Softener, etc.
- Dishwasher Gel, Dishwasher Rinse, Dishwasher pucks, etc.
- Bath Products – Body wash, bath bombs, bubble bath, shaving lotion.
- Skincare (face wash, serums, moisturizer, eye cream, toner, exfoliators, masks, etc)
- Lotions (Hand Lotion, Body Lotion, Body Butters, etc)
- Candles (99% of candles are toxic… look for candles made with coconut wax, palm wax, or soy wax and only have essential oils in them. )
- Oral Health (Toothpaste and mouthwash)
- MAKEUP (Foundation, powders – even mineral makeup!, eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick, lip stains, lip gloss, lip balm, eyeliner, brow pencils, etc)
- Pet Shampoos
There are so many things we have in our home that have toxins in them. It’s actually insane!!
In 2017, I switched my Laundry Detergent, Soaps (ALL), Cleaners (ALL), Candles, Deodorant, Oral health, and my Skincare. My skincare was the hardest for me to change…. and even my Deodorant was a struggle! I’ve tried so many natural deodorants, and most were sh*t. I had to try a lot of different ones to find the “one”. Soapwalla and DOM’s are my two favourite you’re looking for a natural deodorant. If I had to choose one, Soapwalla would be the one I’d recommend! It smells great, and actually works. My only words of advice: Don’t apply right after shaving.
Now in 2018, I’m changing EVERYTHING else. I’ve made one small step and bought my first round of non-toxic makeup. I’m trying Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation and RMS “Un” Powder. Next order will be mascara, blush and bronzer. Finding the right non-toxic products can be tricky if you are used to using the toxic ones… at least I’m finding that! But I won’t give up.. if you want some Beauty Bloggers to follow for inspiration – OrganicBunny, Living Pretty Naturally & Gurl Gone Green. Those are just a few that I love to follow !
ALIMA PURE: SATIN MATTE FOUNDATION REVIEW:
To be honest, I was super skeptical. I’ve been using BareMinerals for years, and BareMinerals covers redness and zits so well. I had little hope for Alima Pure to keep up with my skin. I thought by the end of the day it wouldn’t be covering anything anymore and just be a grease ball. To my amazement it is actually awesome. It covers just as well as BareMinerals if not better, but the biggest difference between BareMinerals and Alima Pure is ZERO oil. With Alima Pure you stay matte all day long! I found with BareMinerals, I’d have to apply translucent powder mid-day to not have an oil slick on my face.
This may be only in my head, but I feel my skin is thanking me for using something so pure especially something I wear for 10-12 hours a day. Over the years my growing concern with using BareMinerals was how much I actually breathed into my lungs. If you’ve used loose powder, you know that sh*t ends up EVERYWHERE! All over your counter, up your nose, in your lungs… everywhere. It’s actually a scary thought. I started to wonder the long term effects of breathing it in. It can’t be good! Right? That’s when I really started researching good brands to use and Alima Pure was top rated for mineral foundation.
Verdict: HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Even for those suffering from acne/ redness and need some extra coverage. It covers so well!
If your pretty fair skinned with a more yellow undertone try: Beige 2 (see skin comparison below).
RMS BEAUTY: “UN” POWDER REVIEW:
I need to discuss RMS “un” powder for a second because this stuff is the BEST! I only use the smallest amount on my t-zone each morning to make sure I stay matte throughout the day, and I tell you, you won’t have any grease. NONE! This container will probably last me, 6 months with the amount I actually use each day. It’s fantastic!
Like mentioned above, I like knowing that if I breathe in this powder while doing my makeup, it’s all natural (only 2 ingredients!). No cancerous toxins in here. Healthy lungs! 😀
Happy lungs, happy skin = happy me!
VERDICT: SERIOUSLY 5+ STARS!! You need this. That is all I need to say. You’ll be matte all day long.
